Amber grew up in Freeman, South Dakota. From an early age, she was taught the importance of a strong work ethic. She began working at the family business, Stern Co. at the age of six. Amber did not shy away from hard work. During her 14 years at Stern, she learned how to drive a forklift, delivered products to customers, answered phones on Saturdays, cleaned the bathrooms, painted tanks, and everything in between!
Amber graduated from the University of South Dakota (USD) with a degree in Political Science and a Master's Degree in Educational Administration - Adult and Higher Education. She worked at USD as the Director of Student Leadership Development for five years before moving to Las Vegas, NV in 2015. While in Las Vegas, she worked for an energy company in sales before opening her own insurance agency.
After having her first child, Amber realized that South Dakota is where she wants to raise her children and grow her business. She owns an insurance agency on the south side of Sioux Falls and is married to Trenton (USD Law school graduate). They have two children, Braxton (4) and Scotti (18 months).
Working for the Future of Today and Tomorrow
As a mom, wife, and business owner, Amber wants to focus on quality education and economically strong communities. She believes we need to send our kids to safe schools that have the resources to provide quality education. She wants small businesses to be able to operate independently with little government interference so they can continue to provide good-paying jobs. Amber will work hard to preserve what makes South Dakota great for future generations. She believes the government that governs best governs the least and provides the most opportunity for local control.
